REC says Re-Run Election Satisfactory
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Nasarawa State, Shehu el-Wahab, has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of re-run election in some polling units of Keana and Doma south constituencies of the state.
He made his position known shortly after monitoring the exercise in the affected areas.
First point of call by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Nasarawa State, Alhaji Shehu el-Wahab, accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, Shehu Usman Nadada, were the 5 polling units of Kofar Sarki, Kofar Ikiwa, Central Primary School A and B and Kofar Khagaza in Agaza Electoral Ward of Keana constituency.
In all the polling units, the re-run election which witnessed heavy presence of security forces, was peaceful as electorate were seen casting their votes in an orderly manner.
At the Angwar Sarki Bassa 1 polling unit in Rukubi Electoral Ward of Doma South constituency, voting was almost concluded as at 2:17 PM when the INEC Commissioner and his entourage arrived the polling unit.
Speaking after monitoring the election, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Shehu el-Wahab, expressed happiness with the near perfect functionality of the electoral materials deployed for the election, particularly BVAS, and the maturity exhibited by the electorate, assuring of a credible and transparent process.
On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Shehu Usman Nadada, commended the professionalism exhibited by security agencies covering the election.
A voter at Central Primary School B in Agaza Electoral Ward commended INEC for early commencement of the election and stressed the need for the commission to be fair and transparent in the outcome of the election.
