FRSC Engages Key Stakeholders to Mitigate Road Accidents
The Nasarawa State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has affirmed its commitment to engaging key stakeholders in its ongoing efforts to mitigate road accidents on highways.
The Sector Commander of the corps, Mrs. Lucy Samuel Mhii reiterated this during the flag- off of Nasarawa Sector Mega rally to reduce road traffic crashes through public enlightenment at the Yahaya Bello Bus Terminal in Bukan Sidi, Lafia.
The Nasarawa Sector Mega rally with the Theme: reduce road traffic crashes through public enlightenment organized by the state command of the FRSC, aims to raise awareness among road users about the significance of adhering to traffic regulations to minimize road accidents in the state.
During the flag-off of the operation at the Yahaya Sabo Bus Terminal in Bukan Sidi, Lafia, the Sector Commander Mrs. Lucy Samuel Mhii highlighted various human factors contributing to road accidents, such as insufficient vehicle checks before commencing journeys, overloading, speeding, and alcohol consumption, and cautioned drivers against such behaviors.
The sector commander emphasized that collaborating with relevant stakeholders will enhance road safety among motorists, and noted that additional strategies will be implemented to reduce road accidents on the highways.
She mentioned plans to establish a task force to ensure vehicle and motorcycle registrations, urging all motorists to comply with the forthcoming regulations.
Representatives from the Commissioner of Police, the Commander of the Quick Response Team, NDLEA, and NURTW applauded the FRSC’s efforts, affirming that such awareness campaigns will aid in decreasing road accidents in the state.
During the event, members of the NYSC presented a playlet emphasizing the importance of refraining from using mobile phones while driving, underlining the critical need for safety on the roads.
