State Government Launches Free Health Screening Exercise
In a bid to tackle the rising cases of hypertension and diabetes, the Nasarawa State Government has announced plans to conduct free screening and testing for these diseases.
Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health, revealed this during a visit to the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS) in Lafia.
According to Dr. Alhassan, hypertension-related deaths are on the increase, making it crucial to implement measures to address the issue.
As part of the strategy, over 300,000 people will be screened to determine the disease burden in the state.
Free Screening Services to Include:
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Viral Hepatitis A and B
The state’s Ministry of Health aims to create awareness about the importance of health screenings and encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to know their health status.
The General Manager of NBS, Mr. Aloko Flashman, has pledged the station’s support to promote the initiative.
This free health screening exercise is a significant step towards improving the health and well-being of Nasarawa State residents.
