The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Na Dada, has assured citizens of adequate security protection during the forthcoming Local Government polls in the state.

He made this promise during an inter-agency consultative committee meeting on election security held at the State Police Command headquarters in Lafia.

The meeting aimed to map out strategies for a peaceful and hitch-free election, scheduled to take place on November 2nd.

In attendance were representatives from various agencies, including the Police, NSCDC, Customs, Correctional Services, and NASIEC.

As chairman of the committee, Na Dada outlined modalities for ensuring a smooth electoral process.

Barrister Ayuba Wandai Usman, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the commission’s readiness to conduct credible and acceptable elections.

This assurance of security and commitment to free and fair elections is a welcome development, especially considering the state government’s focus on maintaining peace and security.

Recently, Governor Abdullahi Sule distributed over 30 operational vehicles to security agencies and other government institutions to strengthen their operations.

The collaborative effort between the police, electoral commission, and other stakeholders is crucial in ensuring the success of the upcoming elections.

With adequate security measures in place, citizens can exercise their right to vote without fear, contributing to the democratic process in Nasarawa State.
