NBS U-13 Football Tournament: Doma LG Knocked Lafia in the Opener as Competition gets Underway

It’s a history making day at the Fu-Lafia playground as Doma and Lafia U-13 football players took to the pitch in the first match of the NBS U-13 Football Tournament opener.

The entertaining and thrilling match serves as a talent discovering platform for the state and as well an opportunity for the younger players to start their footballing career.

The tournament tagged “NBS EVC’s inter-primary school football competition” is in it first edition and would be featuring nine local governments from the three senatorial zones of the state.

The very competitive encounter between Doma and Lafia sees Mustapha Abubakar jersey No:9 scoring the only goal in the 59th minutes which gave his team the ticket to the semi final.Other matches would be played Saturday in Keffi and Akwanga zones simultaneously.

Speaking shortly after declaring the Championship Open,the Executive Vice Chairman of NBS, Auwalu Salihu harped on the need for the stakeholders in the Sports industry to complement Government efforts to ensure talents are discovered and nurtured for the Country.

Revealing that the initiative was born out of the desire to catch them young,the EVC noted that as Media organization,it was part of their social responsibility to unearth potential especially at the grassroots.

For the General Manager of NBS Aloko Flashman,the choice of the primary schools lads was to give them hope and confidence in view of the station’s desire to promote Education and Sports as is been done in developed climes, emphasizing that NBS will not rest on its oars to promote sports development across the state.

Chairman Local organizing Committee Smah George who is also the state SWAN Chairman said the whole idea was to ensure potentials are not wasted given the quantum of talents that abound at the grassroots across Nigeria and expressed confidence that the essence will eventually be achieved.
