Nasarawa State Government Urges Citizens to Shun Political Thuggery Ahead of Council Elections
As Nasarawa State prepares for its upcoming council elections, the Lafia local government authority has issued a call to citizens to reject political thuggery and violence. Abubakar Galadima, Director of Personal Management of the council, made this appeal during an expanded security meeting held in Lafia.
Galadima emphasized that meaningful development can only be achieved in a peaceful atmosphere, urging youths to respect and obey constituted authorities. He praised security agencies for maintaining relative peace in the area through constant patrols and encouraged them to sustain their efforts beyond the election period.

The expanded security meeting brought together security agents from various agencies, including the army, civil defence corps, police, immigration and local vigilante groups. A key resolution from the meeting was the constitution of a mediation committee to settle conflicts between herders and farmers.
This call for peace and security comes amidst efforts by Governor Abdullahi Sule to address evolving security challenges in the state. Previously, the governor presided over an Expanded Emergency Security Council Meeting, emphasizing collective responsibility in tackling security concerns.
