Gunmen Kidnap Female Student, Kill Woman in Delta State

A yet-to-be-identified female student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, along the polytechnic road.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen blocked the vehicle the student was in and shot indiscriminately before abducting her. The student, a Higher National Diploma student, was with a male companion who managed to escape into the bush.

A community source revealed that the gunmen were unable to secure their initial target, the male companion, and instead abducted the female student. The source stated that the gunmen shot indiscriminately, killing a woman who owned a shop under the power line and injuring another man in the leg.

The Chairman of the Ogwashi-Uku vigilante group, Mr. Hery Chukwuka, confirmed the abduction and killing. He stated that the vehicle involved, a Lexus 330, had been parked at the Ogwahi-Uku police station.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, promised to provide more information after contacting the Divisional Police Officer of the Ogwashi-Uku division.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of students and residents in the area. The police are expected to launch an investigation into the kidnapping and killing.
