Nasarawa State Set to Revolutionize Rural Healthcare with Emergency Medical Treatment Committee

Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, has expressed optimism that the newly constituted State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee will significantly improve the livelihood of rural dwellers. This assurance was given during an advocacy visit by the committee members, led by the Osoho of Olosoho, Dr. Umar Apeshi, at the Deputy Governor’s office in Lafia.

Dr. Akabe commended the Minister of Health and Social Welfare for initiating the program, describing it as a welcome development. He emphasized the need for adequate sensitization to ensure the program’s success and gain the approval of the entire citizenry.

The Deputy Governor urged the committee to be fair and just in selecting locations for emergency treatment centers at local government councils. He assured that the government will collaborate with the committee and the Federal Government to provide top-notch facilities at these centers.

Dr. Umar Abubakar Apeshi, Chairman of the State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee, explained that the committee’s primary objective is to provide medical and surgical emergency services to all genders and ages at the local government level. This initiative aims to reduce the high rate of morbidity and mortality in the state.
