NBS Pledges Support for INEC’s Voter Registration Drive

The Executive Vice Chairman of Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), Awwalu Salihu, has reaffirmed the station’s commitment to promoting voter registration and education in the state. This pledge was made during a meeting with the management team of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Shehu Wahab.
Awwalu Salihu emphasized the crucial role INEC plays in conducting credible elections and initiating electoral reforms to improve the electoral process. He stressed that the commission’s effective discharge of its responsibilities is vital to promoting democracy and good governance in Nigeria Âą.
The Executive Vice Chairman urged INEC to address the lapses observed during the 2023 elections, ensuring that the 2027 elections are free and fair. He assured the INEC team that NBS is ready to collaborate with them to achieve wider coverage for voter registration ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dr. Shehu Wahab explained that INEC has begun preparations for the 2027 general elections, necessitating engagement with critical stakeholders like NBS to achieve voter education. He sought synergy between INEC and NBS, leveraging the station’s wider reach in the state to educate citizens and promote active participation in the electoral process.
This collaboration aims to ensure that citizens are well-informed and empowered to exercise their right to vote. By working together, INEC and NBS can promote a more inclusive and participatory democratic process in Nasarawa State.
