The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has called on the people of the state to play a vital role in sustaining the existing peace in their domain. He made this call during the inauguration of the new palace of the Osu Agwada in Agwada, Kokona Local Government Area.

According to Governor Sule, the palace, which is a cultural heritage, reflects the peaceful nature of the people of Agwada. He expressed his appreciation to Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the first Civilian Governor of Nasarawa State, for constructing the palace. The Governor commended Senator Adamu for investing his resources in the development of Agwada, citing the establishment of Phoenix University and a skills acquisition center that would aid self-development among the people.

Governor Sule described Senator Adamu’s contribution to the development of the state as significant, saying the construction of the new palace for the Osu Agwada is part of his resolve to support the government’s effort at development. He urged the people to continue to support the government’s initiatives aimed at promoting peace and development in the state.

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State Assembly praised the Governor’s passion for development, particularly the attention given to Kokona Local Government and other parts of the state. He described the Osu Agwada as a detribalized leader and urged the people of the locality to coexist peacefully without recourse to religious and ethnic differences.

The Chairman of Kokona Local Government Council, Agbawu Mek Agbawu, noted that the event is in line with the values of the Afo people. The Osu Agwada, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Obagu, lauded Governor Sule’s commitment to tackling insecurity in the area and other parts of the state.

The Emir of Keffi, Doctor Shehu Chindo Yamusa the third, and the Abaga Toni, Lawrence Sylvester Ayih, expressed their belief in the unity and hope that the palace represents, highlighting the tradition and royal symbol of the Afo people.

During his visit to Agwada, Governor Sule inspected the level of work on the 12.5-kilometer Agwada-Udege road and charged the contractor to step up efforts ahead of the rainy season to ensure timely completion.
