Nasarawa Assembly Calls for Review of Casual Staff Engagement at Research Center to Boost Efficiency

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says the Continuous engagement of casual staff at the state Infectious Disease and Research Center will lower productivity.

The house expressed its concern when the management of the Research Center appeared to defend their budget expenditure of the first quarter of year.

That was Solomon AKwashiki raising concern when the management of the state civil service Commission alleged that commissioners in Nasarawa State employed others instead of casual staff as directed by Governor Abdullahi Sule in the recent employment in the State.

This statement resurfaced when the management of the Nasarawa State Infectious Disease and Research Center and state Aids Control Agency appeared to defend their 2024 first quarter expenditure, it was  discovered that there is shortage of manpower thus, relying on casual staff.

This discovery did not go down well with the house committee on health where chairman of the committee Larry Ven Bawa entertained fear that the Continuous engagement of casual staff at the state Infectious Disease and Research Center will lower productivity and undermine the essence of its establishment.

The story was not different when the ministry of Humanitarian appeared, saying it is relying only on 6 staff to execute programs but the conversation later tailored on improving funding for the ministry to handle emergency cases instead of relying on approvals.

Chairman house committee on Women Affairs, Hajara Danyaro tasked the ministry to engage and woo Non-governmental organizations to key into intervention programs to bring socour to the needy.

The Hajara led committee also hosted the management of Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission for budget assessment where discussion focused on how to improve the lives of people leaving with disabilities.
