Asma’u and Hassan Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting orphans and vulnerable individuals, has embarked on an awareness campaign highlighting the importance of girl-child education and menstrual hygiene.

The exercise was held at Government Junior Secondary School Kofan Kudu, Nasarawa, Government Secondary School Keffi South, and Government College Obi.

The awareness campaign held in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, according to the Program Manager of Asma’u and Hassan Foundation for orphans and Vulnerable, Mr. Collins Chukwueze, aimed to promote gender equality and empower the girls.

Addressing female students at Government Junior Secondary School Kofan Kudu, Government Secondary School Keffi South, and Government College Obi, the Chief Executive officer of the foundation, Hussaina Abdullahi Sule emphasized that Educating the girl-child is crucial for breaking the cycles of poverty, fostering social change, and developing an equitable society.

Hussaina Abdullahi Sule urged parents to improve girls’ enrollment and retention rates, while advising girls to prioritize their reproductive health.

A Medical personnel, Jamila Abubakar, stressed the importance of menstrual hygiene, encouraging the students to accord priority to their overall health.

 Principals of the Schools visited, State Chairman, Teachers Service Commission, Mohammed Abubakar Gada, among others, applauded the foundation for reaching out to the students..

During the campaign, twenty seven out-of-school girls were enrolled at GJSS Kofan Kudu, in addition to sanitary pads and food packs distributed to female students and primary school pupils.
