House of Assembly Pledges Support for AGILE Project

The House of Assembly has pledged to collaborate with the AGILE Project to sponsor a bill that will domesticate the National Policy on Gender in Education and ensure its sustainability. This commitment was made known during a joint committee meeting between the House of Assembly and the management of the AGILE Project.
The meeting aimed to gather input from the House committees on education, women affairs, youths, and sports to make the project sustainable. Chairman House Committee on Education, Abel Yakubu Bala, emphasized the importance of the project and announced that the state assembly will consider introducing a bill to domesticate the National Policy and sustain the project beyond its expiration in 2028.
Members of the House, including Mohammed Omadefu, Dr. Ibrahim Peter Akwe, and Mohammed Garba Isimbabi, commended the project’s management and urged them to work together to ensure its success. The Deputy Project Coordinator, Juliana Polycarp, explained that the project seeks synergy for the domestication of the National Policy on Gender Policy in Education and its sustainability.
The project’s technical officer, Jephtha Daleng, revealed that 30 schools have been earmarked for upgrade, including 15 primary schools to be upgraded to junior secondary schools and 15 junior secondary schools to be changed to senior secondary schools. Additionally, 1000 teachers will be recruited as part of the project.
