Communities Receive Training on Reducing Impact of Climate Change
As part of effort to addressing the impact of climate change on the environment, a Non-Governmental Organization, Women Environmental Program, has organized a three-day training session in Lafia Local Government.
The training, which was held in the Bakin Rijiya and Bukan Allu communities, saw the participation of over two hundred individuals.
Funded by the Christian Aid Nigeria, the initiative was successfully carried out by Women Environmental Program.
While discussing the rationale behind selecting some specific communities, the organization’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Damaris Uja highlighted their agricultural focus.
She said the training was designed to enhance the capacity of women and other vulnerable groups by introducing various sustainable alternatives, such as cooking energy solutions aimed at reducing reliance on firewood.
According to Damaris Uja the training also introduced the participants to natural methods of producing fertilizer and insecticide using locally sourced materials.
Speaking, some of the participants expressed their commitment to implementing their new found knowledge to combat the effects of climate change.
This project is currently active in three states which include Benue, Nasarawa, and Kaduna.
