Nasarawa State Ministry of Health Partners with FMC Keffi for Healthcare Advancements

The General Hospital Doma is now an appendix of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Keffi.

Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe disclosed this during the launching of the partnership between the Nasarawa state Ministry of Health and the FMC Keffi which coincided with the flag off of Viral Hepatitis Free Village Campaign in Doma.

Reports shows that the Deputy Governor performed the twin ceremonies at the Andoma’s palace on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Expressing delight over the acceptance by the management of the Federal Medical Centre Keffi to make the General Hospital Doma an annex of their facility, the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe said the initiative is long overdue.

He commended the FMC for agreeing to move their consultants and other medical experts to Doma to provide healthcare services to the people as well as the partnership that led to the flag off of the Viral Hepatitis Free Village Campaign.

The Deputy Governor bemoaned the high prevalence of the infection in Nasarawa state, particularly in Doma South state constituency where fifteen in hundred people are said to be infected with the virus, noting that government has a robust programme for the elimination of viral hepatitis which has attracted global attention.

State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna who affirmed that the ministry is committed to ensuring every high impact health intervention is delivered to the latter, expressed optimism that the partnership between the state government and the FMC Keffi will ensure quality and adequate healthcare delivery in the state.

In separate remarks, Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Architect Ahmed Sarki, the Andoma of Doma, Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah and the Member representing Doma South constituency at the state Assembly, Musa Ibrahim the twin programme as monumental, saying the people will now access medical consultancy services with ease.

The occasion coincided with the handing over of the site for the construction of over nine hundred million Naira ultramodern markets in Doma to the contractor, Architect Shehu Tukur who promise to mobilise to site and complete work within the twenty four weeks time frame.
