Embrace Technology: Tanzanian VP tasked Commonwealth Parliamentarians
Commonwealth Parliamentarians have been tasked to embrace technology and global best practices in legislation to enhance democracy and good governance.
Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango threw the challenge at the opening ceremony of the conference of the association in Tanzania.
The 53rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s conference for Africa region has been opened in Arusha, Tanzania with the speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly Danladi Jatau leading state Parliamentarians.
The conference was declared open by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango where he tasked members to show commitments and equip themselves with the global best practices in legislation and governance for sustainable democracy, good governance and development.
The Vice president said the conference was aimed at among other things promoting peace, unity, democracy, good governance and stability in all member States, stressing the need to address the global challenges through collective action by all stakeholders.
The Tanzania vice president Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango emphasized the need for African Parliaments to spearhead the move through effective legislation and oversight that will develop the Commonwealth by implications the African continent
The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Danladi Jatau who led the State legislators to the conference in Tanzania re-affirmed his commitment to lead the 7th Assembly to achieve the global best practices in legislative business.
The speaker commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for approving the foreign trip thus reassuring of their commitment for enhanced synergy with other arms of government for peace and speedy development of the State.
The 53rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s conference for Africa region with the theme “Africa Parliaments at the Forefront of Addressing Existential Global Challenges: Food Insecurity, Climate Change and Youth Unemployment” is expected to last between 29th, September 2024 to 7th October, 2024.
