Youth Leader Advocates for Inclusion in Electoral Process at NASIEC Guidelines Launch
As the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) officially released guidelines for the upcoming Local Government Elections, stakeholders in Tudun Gwandara community have called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to include them in the electoral process.
The community’s youth leader and Special Assistant to the Governor on NASIDA, Adamu Musa Alkali, made the appeal during a press briefing held at Lafia North Primary School Tudun Gwandara.
Reflecting on previous electoral experiences, the community’s youth leader and Special Assistant to the Governor on NASIDA, Adamu Musa Alkali, said an aspirant from their community was asked to withdraw from the councillorship race in previous election due to a gentleman’s agreement.
“We are pleading with stakeholders to consider us and grant Tudun Gwandara an automatic ticket for councillorship this time around,”
Alkali further highlighted Tudun Gwandara’s significant contribution to the economic development of the state, noting that the community is home to numerous business centers that complement government’s efforts to enhance its revenue base and engaging actively in political matters.
Alkali used the opportunity to commend Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in improving local infrastructure, such as constructing classrooms and rehabilitating roads.
The Special Assistant to Governor Sule on NASIDA assured the governor and APC leadership of the community’s loyalty and support.
In another development, Adamu Musa Alkali also distributed writing materials and school uniforms to pupils at Lafia North Primary School in Tudun Gwandara to alleviate the economic pressures faced by parents and to encourage the enrollment of children in school.
The Assistant Headmistress of the school, Joy Williams, expressed gratitude for the gesture and called on other philanthropists and non-governmental organizations to lend their support to the community’s educational initiatives.
