Nasarawa Health Commissioner Urges Nurses to Upgrade Skills for Better Healthcare Delivery
Nasarawa State Commissioner of Health, Doctor Gaza Gwamna, has emphasized the need for nurses and healthcare professionals to enhance their knowledge of modern techniques to improve healthcare service delivery across the state.
This call to action was made during the 16th National Conference of the Nigeria Association of Nurse Anesthetists, held at the Nurses House in Lafia.
The conference, themed “Central Anesthesia: Considerations that Ensure Client Life and Safety,” brought together nurse anesthetists from all 36 states to discuss pressing issues and explore solutions.
Represented by Mrs. Eunice Osumanyi, Director of Nursing Services, Dr. Gwamna highlighted the critical role nurse anesthetists play in delivering quality healthcare and the importance of continuous learning for effective performance.
Dr. Gwamna acknowledged healthcare practitioners’ tireless efforts in ensuring citizens’ access to quality healthcare services. He expressed confidence that the conference would equip participants with new methodologies for administering anesthesia, enhancing patient care capabilities.
Ejigah Ogbaje Friday, National President of the Nigeria Association of Nurse Anesthetists, described the conference as vital for knowledge enhancement and encouraged participants to integrate modern nursing trends into their practice.
Keynote speaker Professor Henry Yammoh Embu emphasized the importance of safety checklists in ensuring clients’ well-being.
