Nasarawa Speaker Boosts Youth Employment: 14 Kokona Footballers Head to Ghana for International Trials
In a thrilling finale, Ga’ate United edged out Garaku Selected 1-0 at the Garaku mini stadium, capping off a four-month football tournament organized by Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker Danladi Jatau.
The tournament, tagged “Unity Football Competition, aimed to scout grassroots talents and promote harmony among diverse nationalities in Kokona local government.
The event drew participation from 13 teams across 11 electoral wards. Speaker Jatau, accompanied by state parliamentarians, presented cash prizes and trophies to outstanding players and teams.
The tournament’s ultimate goal was achieved as 14 exceptional players were selected for international trials in Ghana; travel documents are in place, and their departure is imminent.
Speaker Jatau hailed the initiative as his contribution to youth employment and development.
He also announced plans to expand the competition to all 24 state constituencies in Lafia, the state capital.
This grassroots development drive promises to unearth more football talents and foster unity among Nasarawa’s youth.
