Obi LG Takes Proactive Steps to Prevent Future Violence
Following the tragic events in Agyaragu that resulted in the loss of a Nigerian Army officer and civilians, as well as destruction of properties, the Security Council of Obi Local Government Area has devised strategies to prevent similar incidents.
Chairman Isa Sani KK presided over a meeting at the Obi Local Government Council office, where heads of security agencies briefed the council on the root cause of the violence. The council has identified the need for further investigation to bring perpetrators to justice.
Key Measures to Ensure Peace and Security:
- Recovery and Safeguarding of Properties: The council will work to recover and safeguard vandalized properties at the two burned-down police stations.
- Collaboration with Community Leaders: The council will engage local vigilantes and community leaders to ensure security of lives and properties.
- Promoting Peaceful Conflict Resolution: Youths and residents are urged to address grievances through appropriate channels, rather than taking the law into their own hands.
Traditional ruler Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Ogiri Orume commended the timely meeting, emphasizing the need for respect for authority and patience in interpersonal dealings to sustain peace and harmony.
To further promote peace, Chairman Isa Sani KK met with the traditional council of Jenkwe Development Area, vigilante heads, and others at the palace of Zhe Migili Dr. Ayuba Agwadu Audu in Agyaragu.
