Historic Milestone: Phoenix University Prepares for Inaugural Matriculation Ceremony

Phoenix University, Agwada, is set to welcome its first cohort of students for the 2024/2025 academic session, marking a significant milestone for the institution as it becomes the first indigenous private university in Nasarawa State. Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi Bala provided an update on the preparations for the upcoming matriculation ceremony during a press briefing.

Established to enhance access to education for rural communities, Phoenix University has made notable progress since its inception. Following consultations with stakeholders and the appointment of key personnel, the university received an admission quota of 500 students for the academic year. Out of 342 applicants, 260 met the admission criteria and will be officially welcomed.

The matriculation ceremony will also feature a special investiture of the Chancellor and the awarding of an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters to Dr. Muhammadu Indimi, recognizing his significant contributions to education, humanitarian efforts, and philanthropy.

Prof. Bala expressed gratitude to the university’s founder, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Governor Abdullahi Sule for their support in facilitating a successful start for academic operations.

In a collaborative effort to support students, Chief Librarian Ambassador Samuel Jimba announced that scholarships have been awarded to students across all 13 local government areas of the state, advocating for ongoing contributions from individuals and organizations to bolster the development of Nasarawa State.
