Keffi Local Government Council Takes Action to Contain Cholera Outbreak
Authorities in Keffi Local Government Council are actively working to manage a cholera outbreak in the region. Executive Chairman Dr. Ahmed Idris Damagani made this announcement during a visit to nine individuals affected by the illness at a local hospital on Friday.
In an interview following his visit, Dr. Damagani stated that measures have been implemented to prevent the further spread of cholera. He confirmed that a team of medical personnel has been deployed to the area to provide necessary assistance, noting that there have been no reported fatalities linked to the outbreak.
The Keffi LGC Chairman expressed gratitude to the State Ministry of Health for its prompt intervention and called for additional support from both the State and Federal Governments.
Dr. Damagani also emphasized the importance of personal hygiene for the health and safety of Keffi residents. He warned that his administration would take strict action against individuals who engage in indiscriminate waste disposal, a practice identified as a contributing factor to the cholera outbreak.
As of the latest update, all nine affected individuals are receiving treatment at Barmani Primary Healthcare Center in Keffi.
