Nasarawa State Speaker Commends Parliamentary Staff Association’s Efforts Towards Financial Autonomy

Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has praised the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) for its tireless efforts in securing financial autonomy for the legislative arm in the country. Jatau made this commendation at the 25th National Executive Council meeting of PASAN, held in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
The meeting brought together delegates from across the federation to discuss and refine strategies for strengthening democracy through the parliament. Jatau expressed optimism that PASAN’s efforts would yield positive results, acknowledging the association’s crucial role in promoting the welfare of parliamentary staff.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by former lawmaker David Maiyaki, revealed that the government had elevated directors at the state assembly to permanent secretaries and improved the welfare of assembly staff in recognition of PASAN’s efforts.
The event concluded with a gala night, where Governor Abdullahi Sule, Speaker Danladi Jatau, and others were honored with awards for their outstanding leadership qualities and benevolence towards PASAN.
Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Daniel Oga Ogazi, responded on behalf of the awardees, stating that aside from the consolidated legislative salary structure, which PASAN members in the state are already benefiting from, the seventh assembly remains committed to enhancing their welfare for efficient service delivery.
