Nasarawa State has reaffirmed its dedication to implementing the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project in accordance with World Bank standards. This commitment was made during an emergency meeting of the State Project Steering Committee, held at the State Ministry for Education’s conference hall.

The committee, comprising members from various ministries, boards, and civil society organizations, shared strategies to ensure the project’s successful implementation. State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamma, urged members to intensify their efforts in addressing potential issues that could hinder the project’s progress.

The State AGILE project coordinator, Hajiya Ayishatu Aliyu Isoga, presented a status report, highlighting successes and challenges encountered so far. Notably, the project has hired school improvement grant consultants and trained School-Based Management Committee members. Isoga appealed to the committee for support in achieving the project’s objectives.

The AGILE project aims to improve secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls in targeted areas. In Nasarawa State, over 20,000 out-of-school girls are benefiting from the Conditional Cash Transfer scheme under the AGILE program.
