Women groups in Nasarawa State are pushing for greater inclusion in leadership and governance, emphasizing the need for more women in decision-making positions. This call was made during a visit to the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Doctor Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, at his office in Lafia.

Hajiya Habiba Umar, leader of the Igbira Women Association in Lafia, and Hajiya Maryam Haruna, leader of the Agazawa Mata Women Association, stressed that increased representation would give women a sense of belonging and enable them to make meaningful contributions to the state’s and nation’s development.

The women leaders commended Doctor Magaji for his efforts in improving the lives of women in the state and urged him to sustain his efforts. They also thanked Governor Sule for appointing Doctor Magaji, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver based on his track record.

In response, Doctor Magaji acknowledged the vital role women play in nation-building and encouraged them to share innovative ideas that would drive development in the state. He advised the women to support one another, avoid pulling each other down, and maintain harmony within their ranks.

This advocacy effort aligns with the broader push for women’s inclusion in governance and decision-making positions, as emphasized by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya A’isha Rufa’i.
