The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its exceptional transparency and accountability in addressing the challenges that followed the recently concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a press release signed by Paul Odenyi, Deputy Director, Media & Communication, the NOA Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, lauded JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, for demonstrating integrity and courage in public leadership.

The NOA noted that JAMB’s open acknowledgement of its lapses is a rare and commendable act of leadership, reflecting a deep sense of institutional responsibility. This act of forthrightness aligns with the principles of the National Values Charter, which emphasizes transparency and accountability in public institutions.

While commending JAMB’s transparency, the NOA urged the board to initiate remedial measures that directly address the concerns of candidates, parents, and other stakeholders affected by the errors. Mallam Onilu emphasized the need for JAMB to consider appropriate compensation to mitigate the stress and anxiety suffered by candidates.

The NOA stressed that JAMB’s example should serve as a model for other public institutions. When institutions own their mistakes and act to correct them, they earn the respect and confidence of the people.

The NOA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a governance culture anchored in trust, integrity, and mutual respect between citizens and institutions. The agency will continue its advocacy for responsible leadership and value-driven citizenship, entrenching the ideals of the National Values Charter across all levels of society.

As Nigeria strives toward a more ethical, inclusive, and responsible governance culture, the NOA’s commendation of JAMB’s transparency serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter future.
