My Administration is Committed to Workers’ Welfare – Gov. Sule
Governor Abdullahi Sule says his administration is poised to make workers in Nasarawa State live a comfortable life even after retirement from service.
The Governor said this while declaring open a one-day Pension and Sensitization meeting with Stakeholders at the Conference Hall of the Ministry for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Underscoring the benefits of the Contributory Pension Scheme, Governor Abdullahi Sule urged workers in Nasarawa State to see the importance of belonging to the scheme owing to the benefits it heralds.
The Governor said apart from providing quick access to retirement benefits, the pension fund has other advantages in the area of infrastructure and housing loans.
Speaker, Nasarawa State House Assembly, Danladi Jatau apart commending the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule on the welfare of workers, assured that the assembly is poised to ensure the pension bill is given a public hearing whenever it is presented on the floor of the Assembly.
Saluting the Governor’s keen interest on workers in the Nasarawa State and the commitment to ensure retirees from the state are equipped with necessary vocational skills, Nasarawa State Head of Service, Barrister Abigail Waya affirmed that the engagement with the relevant stakeholders on pensions was a deliberate measure aimed at exploring a viable option of addressing issues that will make for seamless pension administration.
Providing a platform for discourse with Stakeholders that also include Pension Fund Administrators, the event featured inputs from the State Commissioner of Justice, Represented by the State Solicitor General as well as Carol Alex Uzuoma of the National Pension Commission.
The Chairman NLC, Ayuba Ismaila Oko, his Counterpart from the Trade Union Congress, Mohammed Umar Doma, and the Joint Negotiation Council, Shawulu Tama welcomed ideas and called for proper implementation.
