NEMA to Flag Off Downscaling of 2024 Early Warning Strategies in Nasarawa State
The National Emergency Management Agency has chosen Nasarawa State among other states of the federation to flag off the downscaling of 2024 early warning strategies to grassroot level for effective and efficient early actions.
The occasion which will take on Wednesday is in collaboration with the state Emergency Management Agency is to sensitize people in the flood flash areas to vacate as NiMET warned that some states will experience flooding.
In a statement by the Director General of the state Emergency Management Agency Barrister Zachary Alumaga highlighted Nasarawa, Toto, Karu, Doma and Awe Local Government Areas as among the high risk areas in the state.
While appreciating Nasarawa State for the flag off and building citizens’ resilience to the community level, the statement said the Agency has activated disaster risk reduction measures to avert devastating flood incident in communities across the state. The statement called on all critical State Government officials, Local Government Authorities, Traditional Rulers, Leaders of faith-based organisations and other relevant stakeholders to attend the programme.
