As the Local Government Elections in Nasarawa State approach, stakeholders from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Azara Development Area are advocating for the area to be allowed to produce the next Chairman of Awe Local Government Area.

They made the appeal during a town hall meeting held at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Youth Center in Azara Sunday.

Addressing the press shortly after the meeting, on behalf of the stakeholders from the four electoral wards in the Azara Development Area, Liman Abubakar, highlighted the APC’s dedication to fairness and justice stressing that political zoning arrangements are essential for promoting equity and balance, ensuring that dominant groups do not overshadow the weak.

Abubakar pointed out that since the establishment of Awe Local Government Area, Azara Development Area has not had the opportunity to produce a chairperson.

Liman further noted the substantial achievements made for the Azara Development Area during Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration which  include the ongoing construction of the Adudu-Azara-Wuse road and the Ribi-Jangwa road, as well as the conversion of Azara Primary Health Center to a General Hospital, alongside various political appointments.

He described Governor Sule as a true democrat committed to fairness and justice, appealing to both the governor and the party leadership at the state and local levels to ensure that the Chairmanship position for Awe LGA is zoned to Azara.

The three aspirants vying for the Chairmanship position—Adamu Ladan, Mohammed Sani Musa, and Ahmed Dalhatu Gamji expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their initiative and pledged to support whoever is selected for the growth and development in Azara and Awe LGA.

After the meeting, the group visited the palace of the Emir of Azara, Dr. Kabiru Musa Ibrahim, to seek royal blessings where he commended the stakeholders and the three aspirants for their unity in pursuit of a common goal, encouraging them to maintain their solidarity.
