NSG To Clear Backlog of Gratuity
Governor Abdullahi Sule says his administration is committed to clearing the backlog of gratuity in Nasarawa State.
This position was reaffirmed when the Governor visited the state Pension Bureau to monitor the ongoing screening of pensioners that fall within the category of those to be paid their gratuities.
Recalling that his administration has realized one billion naira for the payment of the backlog of pensions to two thousand and ten, Governor Abdullahi Sule’s visit to the State Pension Bureau was to ascertain the progress of the ongoing screening.
Satisfied with the process, Governor Sule said the state government is committed to carrying on with the exercise to ensure the plight of pensioners in the state is catered for, especially with the current economic hardship.
He said with a substantive number of Pensioners screened the exercise is expected to be rounded up by Monday next week, while payment is to commence in earnest.
Appreciating the Governor for his concern for the plight of pensioners in the state, the Director General, Nasarawa State Pension Bureau, Sulaiman Musa Nagogo assured that after the completion of the verification, those who retired between nineteen ninety-nine and twenty ten will receive their gratuity from the one billion naira that has been approved.
The Director General of the Pension Bureau also lauded Governor Sule for being up to date with the payment of pensions at the state and local government levels.
Some of the beneficiaries applauded the process, affirming that it will go a long way in addressing their present predicament.
