LG Commissioner Receives Award from an NGO
Communities in Nasarawa State have been tasked to support Governor Abdullahi Sule’s peace building initiative for development of the state.
The State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Muhammad Iyimoga Oyigye gave the task when a Non-Governmental Organization, “Global Alliance for Peace and Unity” presented an award to him at his office in Lafia.
Emphasizing the crucial role that peace plays towards development of the state, the commissioner, appealed to all and sundry to give the state governor, the needed support towards promoting peace and unity in the state.
Muhammad Oyigye who appreciated Global Alliance for Peace and Unity for the honour done to him, challenged the group to redouble efforts towards promoting religious tolerance among people in the state.
He added that the award will spur him to do more for the people of the state particularly, local government workers and pensioners.
Earlier, National President of Global Alliance for Peace and Unity, Solomon Pevkiya Tarbulo said the award for “Most Outstanding and Peaceful Commissioner for Local Government” was presented to the commissioner due to his track record of achievements.
A statement by the Head of Public Relations Unit of the ministry, Ibrahim Adamu Shigafarta quotes the Global Alliance president as urging the commissioner to sustain the feat.
