Speaker Jatau Announces Road Construction Project to Connect Kokona and Nasarawa Eggon
The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau says Governor Abdullahi Sule has agreed to connect Kokona and Nasarawa Eggon local governments through the construction of rural roads to enhance socio-economic activities in the region.
The speaker disclosed this during a meeting with the United Forum for Initiative and Good Governance at the state House Assembly.
The forum, led by Abalaku Alu Ahmed, visited the assembly complex to identify with the Speaker Danladi Jatau, who is a trustee of the forum, and to provide guidance on promoting good governance and the rule of law in the state.
In his address to the group, the speaker urged them to continue to advocateb good governance, peace, unity, and development.
Similarly, the Speaker Danladi Jatau received a donation of a tractor on behalf of the state house of assembly from the government, emphasizing the importance of mechanized farming to address food insecurity and enhance agricultural productivity.
Meantime, the State House of Assembly’s Standing Committee on Sustainable Development Goals while assessing the budget of the State SDGs criticized the management for a lack of progress in attracting local and international partners for infrastructural development, calling for innovative solutions to address the issue.
Consequently, the committee Chairman summoned the senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs to explain why it recorded zero performance in the first quarter of 2024.
On public account, the committee played host to different government outfits including the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency led by the DG, Barr. Zamani Zakary Allumaga where the chairman of the committee Solomon AKwashiki frowned at lack of releases of funds to address emergency situations in the state.
In addition, the committee on Finance and Appropriation chaired by Hudu A Hudu has called for transparency in the payment of gratuity and pensions by the state Pension Bureau to maintain the integrity of the pension system.
In another development, the committee on Services and Welfare conducted oversight functions to improve staff welfare within the Assembly and Assembly service commission.
