House Committee on Health Pledges Support for General Hospitals in Nasarawa State

Nasarawa State House of Assembly says it will provide the needed legislation to assist the State Government provide modern facilities in General Hospitals in the State for effective and efficient health care service delivery.

Chairman, House Committee on Health, Larry Ven-Bawa stated this when the committee inspected General Hospitals in Awe, Keana and Doma LGAs.

The inspection VISIT took members of the House Committee on Health to the General Hospitals in Awe, Keana and Doma local governments where it was observed that doctors and nurses are needed along with modern working facilities as power supply remains a huge problem.

After being taken round, the chairman house committee on health Larry Ven-Bawa said the committee was impressed with structures and equipment in the general hospitals but added that a lot still needs to be done to improve the facilities so as to provide the needed services to the people of Nasarawa State.

The committee chairman commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in the health sector and promised to give him all the legislative support to do more in that direction.

 Ven-Bawa equally appreciated the board and the management of the General Hospitals as well as staff for their commitment in ensuring that the people of the state get the best health care services.

Taking the member of the health committee round the hospitals, the Chief Medical Director Hospital Management Board, Dr. Egba Edego appreciated the Assembly for its commitment to the development of the health sector in the state saying General Hospitals across the 13 Local Government Areas are receiving massive transformation due to effective synergy between the Executive and the Legislature.

Dr. Edego however lamented the attitude of some people who encroach on the hospitals lands and appealed to the committee to assist the board in addressing the challenging which has affected five out of the seventeen General Hospitals in the State, an appeal the committee promised to tackle with all seriousness.
