Nasarawa State Urban Development Board Cracks Down on Unauthorized Construction
The Nasarawa State Urban Development Board (NUDB) has announced a crackdown on residents who undertake construction without proper planning or approvals. Managing Director Wada Yahaya made this statement during an inspection of ongoing flyover and road construction projects in Lafia.
While reviewing the progress of a 16 billion naira one-kilometer combined interchange, which includes both underpass and overpass structures, Yahaya, alongside Dr. Nawani Aboki, Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Media and Publicity, expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of the work being done.
Yahaya highlighted that the primary goal of the flyover is to alleviate traffic congestion in Lafia and ensure smooth vehicle movement between Jos and Makurdi roads. He noted that the project will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the state capital but also help reduce road accidents, assuring residents that it will be completed within the projected timeframe.
Engineer Mammud Afrie, the site manager, confirmed that the project is currently in its second stage and reassured residents of the government’s commitment to quality execution, as adequate resources have been allocated for its completion.
In addition, while assessing the Millionaire Quarters Road, which connects various parts of Lafia, Dr. Nawani Aboki praised Governor Sule as a visionary leader, commending his commitment to infrastructural development. He urged residents to support the government’s initiatives to create a more livable environment for all.
