Lafia East Overseer Calls for Collective Effort to Tackle Insecurity

The Overseer of Lafia East Development Area, Barrister Mohammed Haruna says Government and security agencies need the support of locals to succeed in the crusade against crimes.Barrister Mohammed Haruna stated this during stakeholders meeting in Assakio, the headquarters of the Development Area.

Barrister Mohammed Haruna tasked stakeholders in the affected communities to always report suspicious persons and activities to relevant security authorities to rid the communities of criminal elements.

Barrister Haruna sympathized with the families of those killed, kidnapped and rescued in Ugah, Gallo, Zamala among others, saying efforts are on to rescue those who are still in captivity.

Also speaking, the member representing Lafia North Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Barrister Esson Mairiga, expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the constituency and called on security agencies to redouble effort towards protecting lives and property of citizens.

Contributing, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area Commander Lafia, Patrick Onwu, solicited the support and cooperation of all for effective policing.

Traditional rulers and stakeholders at the event advocated empowerment of recognized vigilante and called for synergy between Nasarawa and Plateau State Governments to flush out criminals from Madam Forest Reserves in between Mankwar in Lafia East Development Area and Plateau State.
