Doma Local Government Legislative Council Elects Speaker and Deputy Speaker
The Doma Local Government legislative council has taken a significant step towards strengthening its leadership with the election of Fidelis Adagowuso as Speaker and Haruna Idris Anah as Deputy Speaker. This development was announced during Wednesday’s plenary session, where councilors from the ten electoral wards were also inaugurated.
Usman Ibrahim Ogah, Clerk of the council, emphasized the importance of carrying out their responsibilities within the law, setting the tone for the new leadership Âą. The principal officers of the legislative council were also announced, including:
- Majority Leader: Abdullahi Sani Muhammad
- Chief Whip: Blessing Otunsha Idasho
- Minority Leader: Isa Musa Ayene
Speaker Fidelis Adagowuso vowed to work closely with the executive chairman to ensure quality leadership, promising to establish and maintain a good working relationship. He also announced the chairmen of various house committees, including:
- Agriculture: Francis Ebeshi
- Education: Nicholas Ikpari
- Appropriation: Musa Ibrahim Kpanya
- Health: Tabitha Osome
- Works and Housing: Liman Ashafa
Chairman Jonathan Okuba Addra expressed his commitment to collaborating with the legislative council, emphasizing the need for collective effort to drive development in the area. “I shall cooperate with the legislature to ensure rapid development,” he stated.
The plenary session was adjourned until November 11, 2024, marking the beginning of a new era of cooperation and development in Doma Local Government.
