The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has directed the State Urban Development Board to address the congestion on Mararaba highway in Karu local government area.

Chairman, House committee on Nasarawa State Urban Development Board, Musa Saidu Gude, conveyed the assembly’s decision when he hosted the management of the board for a budget defense , Thursday.

When the management of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board (NUDB) presented their 2024 budget for approval, discussions revolved around infrastructure and urban development, where the Managing Director, Engineer Mohammed Yahaya Wada noted the state government’s commitment to transforming the board.He highlighted the ongoing construction of an underpass and flyover in Lafia, the first of its kind in the North Central region, and assured the committee that projects like the dualization of Akwanga road linking the roundabout, among other projects were underway to enhance the state’s landscape.

Following a thorough review of the board’s budget, the committee Chairman Musa Saidu Gude urged the State Urban Development Board to address the congestion on Mararaba highway in Karu local government area to promote orderliness and enhance the town’s aesthetics, especially considering its proximity to the nation’s capital.

In a related development, the Committee on Works inspected some ongoing projects including the construction of the Lafia Secretariat Complex, renovation of the First Lady’s Office, the rehabilitation of Adudu/Azara, and Nunku-Agyaga-Rinze road, where the Committee Chairman Suleiman Yakubu Azara commended the contractors for their diligent work.

Azara lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for awarding these contracts and reminded the contractors to adhere to the terms of their agreements, pointing out the importance of timely completion of the projects for the benefit of the state.
