Over 20,000 Vulnerable People in Nasarawa to Benefit from Renewed Hope Program

The Nasarawa State government has launched the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer program, aimed at supporting over 20,000 vulnerable individuals in the state. The program manager, Mrs. Rhoda Agbawu, announced that the initiative seeks to cushion economic challenges faced by poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
Initially launched by former President Muhammadu Buhari, the program was rebranded under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. According to Mrs. Agbawu, the program’s primary objective is to reduce poverty among vulnerable households.
Beneficiaries of the program will receive N25,000 each for three months, with some recipients eligible for an upward review of N75,000. However, the initial payment in October 2024 faced challenges due to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations requiring account holders to link their accounts to their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN).
The program’s launch ceremony was attended by Chairman Mek Agbawu Mek and Permanent Secretary Pharmacist Emmanuel Yona, who commended the Federal and State governments for initiating people-oriented policies. They urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds as intended.
In Kokona Local Government Area, 436 poor Nigerians are benefiting from the program, receiving either N25,000 or N75,000. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government, encouraging President Tinubu to sustain the efforts. The Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer program is part of the Federal Government’s initiatives to alleviate poverty and support vulnerable households across the country.
