Lafia Holds Special Maulud Prayer for Peace and Unity
In commemoration of this year’s Maulud, a special prayer for the continued sustenance of peace and unity among communities in Nasarawa State has been held in Lafia.
The prayer session, which was attended by the State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, took place at the Chief Imam of Lafia’s family house in Unguwar Toni, Lafia.
Leading the special prayer session, the Chief Imam of Lafia, Sheikh Dahiru Dalhatu, who was represented by the Limamin Gabas, Sheikh Abdullahi Liman Kariyoma, prayed for the continued peaceful coexistence among the different communities across the state.
In the spirit of Maulud, Sheikh Limamin Gabas called on Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, and shun all acts capable of causing disharmony in the state, stressing that peace remains essential for development to thrive.
Also speaking, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, who spoke through the Andoma of Doma, Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah Onawo, warned Muslims against engaging in acts contrary to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him.
He assured the people that traditional rulers remained committed to supporting peaceful coexistence among their subjects.
The State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, appreciated the Chief Imam of Lafia for organising the special Maulud prayer session, describing it as timely and important for the promotion of peace in the state.
He also prayed for the continued sustenance of peace and unity across Nasarawa State.
While assuring the people of the state government’s unwavering commitment to development, Aminu Maifata said the government would not tolerate acts of lawlessness capable of threatening peace and stability in the state.
He used the occasion to reiterate that Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration would continue to prioritise the welfare of traditional rulers as well as rural development across the state.
