Commissioner Tasks Gudi School Contractors to Meet Commissioning Deadline
The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamman, has tasked contractors handling the construction of the Police Secondary School, Gudi, to ensure that all aspects of the project are completed according to specifications ahead of its commissioning.
The Commissioner stated this during an on-site inspection of the school in Gudi.
Dr. John Mamman, who also serves as the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the construction of the Police Secondary School in Gudi, led the Focal Person for the Police Secondary School Building Project and other members of the committee on an inspection tour of the school.
The visit was aimed at assessing the quality and level of work completed so far and determining the readiness of the facilities for commissioning and commencement of academic activities.
Facilities inspected by the team included male and female hostels, classrooms, laboratories, dining and multipurpose halls, a clinic, the commandant’s quarters, police outpost, administrative block and worship centres.
Some of the facilities inspected were said to have reached about 90 percent completion.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamman, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work carried out by most of the contractors.
He, however, challenged the contractors to intensify their efforts and ensure that the remaining work was completed within the required timeframe to meet the planned commissioning and commencement of the school in September.
The Commissioner noted that most of the contractors had given their best in executing the project.
He, however, expressed concern over the poor quality of work observed in some areas handled by a few contractors and called for immediate improvement to ensure that all facilities meet the required standards.
Dr. Mamman also used the opportunity to appreciate the present administration for its significant investment in the education sector, noting that such investments would contribute to improving access to quality education in the state.
Also speaking, the Focal Person for the Police Secondary School Building Project, Dr. Abubakar Idris Adamu, expressed satisfaction with the level of work completed so far.
He said more achievements could be recorded in the education sector with continued investment and commitment by all stakeholders.
Dr. Adamu also called on parents to take advantage of the Police Secondary School located in Gudi to give their children access to quality and affordable education.
