Stakeholders Seek Effective Implementation Of Nasarawa Agricultural Policies
Following the launch of transformative agricultural policies in Nasarawa State, stakeholders are devising strategies to ensure their full implementation.
The stakeholders convened for the second day at the NASIDA Conference Hall.
With the theme, “From Policy to Execution: Transforming Agriculture for Food Security, Wealth Creation, and Economic Growth,” the event brought together agricultural experts and other stakeholders who deliberated on the newly launched policies.
These include the State Agricultural and Food System Policy, the State Agricultural Investment Plan, and the Nasarawa State Agriculture Intelligence Dashboard, all geared towards transforming the agricultural sector.
Leading a panel of discussants on “Data-Driven Agriculture — Monitoring and Evaluation Metrics for Effective Policy Implementation,” the Project Manager, AGRA Nasarawa State, Keneth Odeh, stated that reliable data is critical to ensuring the full implementation of agricultural policies.
He noted that Nasarawa State is one of the leading states in monitoring and evaluation dashboards.
Members of the panel agreed that the dashboard would attract private-sector investments, adding that data is needed to demonstrate results and that investors must have access to land.
According to the discussants, having reliable data will enable donor partners to know whom to support and how to address farmers’ needs.
They urged relevant ministries, departments, and agencies to focus on the successful implementation of the agricultural policies.
In a goodwill message, the Director of Livestock at the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture, Sam Pakaci, said Kaduna shares agricultural opportunities and challenges with Nasarawa State.
He said extension services must remain responsive and stressed the need to strengthen research across the agricultural value chain.
The event was organised by AGRA in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Ministry of Agriculture, NASIDA, and Jesnoch International.
