Sule Clinches Outstanding Governor Award For North Central
Governor Abdullahi Sule has been honoured with the Outstanding Governor of the Year Award for the North Central region.
The award was presented to the Governor at the Daily Times Heroes Award ceremony, which recognised other Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in various areas of endeavour.
The categories of awards included the Public Impact Person of the Decade Award, which was presented to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, while the former President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, received the Global Impact Award.
Alongside other award recipients, including governors, ministers and captains of industries, Governor Abdullahi Sule was presented with the Outstanding Governor of the Year Award for the North Central region, while Senator Ahmed Wadada received the Outstanding Lawmaker of the Year Award.
Describing the award presented to Governor Abdullahi Sule as well deserved, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Aliyu Ahmed Tijani, explained that the recognition reflected the selfless nature of the Governor and his commitment to serving the people.
The event also featured the unveiling of the Centenary Compendium of the Daily Times by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described the souvenir as a masterpiece that highlights Nigeria’s history.
He appreciated the commitment of the Daily Times in preserving and documenting the nation’s history, while tasking other Nigerians to also make positive contributions to the history of the country.
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, President Tinubu noted the ability of the Daily Times to capture some of Nigeria’s most defining moments, dating back to the pre-independence era.
He explained that the President’s quest for national renewal is reflected in efforts to ensure press freedom, as well as enhanced opportunities for the overall growth and development of the country.
Immediate Past President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, underscored the contributions of the Daily Times to Nigeria’s information and enlightenment sector over the last one hundred years.
Even as he called for greater national responsiveness among Nigerians, Adesina recognised President Tinubu’s investment in Nigeria’s human capital through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND.
Beyond the appreciation expressed by the Chairman of Daily Times Nigeria, Fidelis Anosike, discussions centred on the role of the media before and after Nigeria’s independence, as well as its role in the present day. These issues formed the focus of a panel discussion at the event.
