Nasarawa First Lady Urges Women To Promote Peace And Tolerance
Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule, has urged women to complement Governor Abdullahi Sule’s efforts in promoting peace and tolerance across the state.
She made the appeal while hosting a delegation from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, led by its Commissioner, Mrs. Rebecca Kpadji, at her office in Lafia.
Addressing the delegation, which included the Commissioner for Women Affairs, female Governor’s aides, and representatives from the state chapter of the National Council for Women Societies, among others, the First Lady expressed gratitude for the visit and encouraged the women to maintain unity in pursuing their collective progress.
Emphasising the critical role of women in peace-building, Hajiya Silifat urged them to support the state government’s efforts in fostering peace and tolerance, which she described as the foundation for sustainable development.
As the electioneering season approaches, the First Lady appealed to her guests to mobilise women to ensure the success of all APC aspirants and cautioned against political skirmishes, including hatred, bitterness, thuggery, and character assassination.
Observing a minute of silence in honour of the late Dr. Jerusa Dennis Yakubu, who recently passed away, Hajiya Silifat acknowledged her significant contributions towards equipping children and youths with skills to reduce restiveness.
She charged the women to live exemplary lives, mindful that death can come at any time.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Rebecca Adamu Kpadji, explained that the delegation’s visit was to express appreciation to the First Lady and the Governor for appointing more women to key positions and prioritising women’s welfare and empowerment across the state.
The Commissioner further pledged to extensively mobilise grassroots women to secure victory for the APC in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
