A gubernatorial candidate under the factional Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Nasarawa State, Danlami Musa Mohammed, has insisted that he remains the lawful candidate of the party for the 2027 election.

Danlami stated this while addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat along Jos Road in Lafia.

Danlami Musa Mohammed explained that he had received numerous calls from party loyalists, friends and well-wishers within and outside the state following what he described as the false announcement of another person as the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

He said the development prompted him to address journalists in order to set the record straight and clarify his position on the matter.

According to him, he has sufficient evidence from the party’s primary election to establish his emergence as the authentic gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, for the 2027 election.

While insisting that the party’s primary election was conducted in full compliance with the Electoral Act and duly monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Danlami Musa Mohammed maintained that any action taken outside the established electoral process was invalid and should be disregarded.

Danlami, who also identified himself as the State Chairman of the SDP, alleged that he had been denied access to the party’s office.

He further alleged that the party secretariat had been vandalised by individuals whom he described as people who did not have the best interests of the party at heart.

He urged members of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, and its numerous supporters across Nasarawa State to remain calm and peaceful.

Danlami assured the party’s supporters that due process would be followed in seeking legal redress to protect what he described as their mandate.
