The Global Alliance for Peace and Unity, GAPU, has called on the people of Nasarawa State to promote peace, unity and sustainable development for the growth and progress of the state.

The call was made by the Chief Executive Officer of GAPU and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Culture and Tourism, Dr. Solomon Tabulu Pevkyaa, when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Kwanta Yakubu, and the State Director, Sub-Treasury, Ministry of Finance, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Adudu, at their respective offices.

Speaking during the separate visits to the offices of Kwanta Yakubu and Dr. Umar Abdullahi Adudu, Dr. Solomon Pevkyaa stressed the need for citizens to set aside tribal, religious and political differences and work together in the interest of Nasarawa State.

Pevkyaa explained that the visit was aimed at identifying with the two government officials and appreciating their commitment to peace, unity and selfless service to the state and humanity.

The GAPU Chief Executive Officer said the organisation was established to champion peace, promote unity and support good governance.

He noted that these objectives were also in line with some of the priorities of the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Responding separately, the Commissioner for Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Kwanta Yakubu, and the State Director, Sub-Treasurer, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Adudu, commended GAPU for its peace and unity initiative.

They assured the organisation of their readiness to collaborate with the group towards achieving its objectives and promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.

During the visit, GAPU presented an Icon of Peace, Unity and Youth Empowerment in Nigeria Award to Commissioner Kwanta Yakubu.

Dr. Umar Abdullahi Adudu also received an award recognising him as a Peace and Unity Advocate in Nigeria.
