NDE Urges Renewed Hope Beneficiaries To Start Businesses
Beneficiaries of the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative in Nasarawa State have been encouraged to use the skills and equipment provided to establish their own business enterprises.
The Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Silas Ali Agara, made the call during a disbursement ceremony for trainees who graduated from the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative at the Justice Sidi Bage Federal Secretariat, Lafia.
The second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative in Nasarawa State provided opportunities for 66 beneficiaries to acquire relevant skills in tailoring, fashion design, hairdressing, solar energy, carpentry and landscaping.
Silas Agara, represented by the Director of Vocational and Skills Development, Christopher Bamsida, noted that the Directorate would continue to expand opportunities that would contribute to sustainable livelihoods and economic development. He urged beneficiaries to use both the skills and starter packs to establish businesses that would create wealth.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Tertiary and Technical Education, Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo, who represented the State Governor, stated that Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration gives attention to engaging youths in various skills acquisition programmes and promised continued collaboration with the Directorate to further create job opportunities in the state.
The State Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment, Idris Dauda Mahmood, said the beneficiaries had been equipped with practical skills and starter packs to provide them with the necessary support to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
Other speakers at the event, including the Chun Mada, Samson Gamu Yare, charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items to enable them to realise the purpose for which they were provided.
The event featured the symbolic presentation of sewing machines, fashion design equipment, hairdressing machines and solar energy kits, among others, to the beneficiaries, as Habiba Mustapha, who spoke on their behalf, promised that they would use the items to establish their business enterprises.
