Integrate E Project Benefits Women And Children In Nasarawa
Over one hundred women and children have benefited from the Integrate E Project, which has contributed to a decrease in the maternal mortality rate in Nasarawa State.
This was revealed by international partners during the Integrate E Project Dissemination Meeting held at Tazu Luxury Hotel, Jos Road, Lafia.
With the theme, “Strengthening Health Systems through Partnership, Innovation, and Lasting Legacy,” the Integrate E End-of-Project Dissemination Meeting, organised by the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Society for Family Health, was designed to bring together stakeholders and development partners to examine the achievements recorded by the project over the past five years in the state.
In a remark, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, noted that the dissemination of the Integrate E Project has played a significant role in educating and enlightening many families on family planning and other healthcare-related matters, which contributed to reducing maternal mortality in the state.
He reaffirmed the government’s determination to strengthen partnerships with relevant stakeholders to improve healthcare services, especially for people in rural communities.
Also speaking, the Deputy Director of Family Health/Gate Foundation, Rodio Dialo, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Family Health, Dr. Omokhudu Idogho, pointed out that the Integrate E Project is being carefully implemented in Nasarawa State with the aim of providing quality healthcare delivery to women and children, geared towards reducing maternal mortality through family planning, and called for its sustainability.
In their goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hassan; representative of the Registrar, Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria; as well as the Reproductive Health and Family Planning Coordinator, Esther Yonah, among other development partners, lauded the initiative, noting that it has succeeded in providing greater awareness about family planning and strengthening the quality of services provided by healthcare service providers.
Some of the beneficiaries of the Integrate E Project commended the initiators of the project, noting that it has helped them to better understand their health status and how to engage in family planning, while some resource persons presented slides and pictorials of success stories from the project over the last five years.
