State Health Ministry, NASACA Launch New Roadmap to Eliminate HIV Impact in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Ministry of Health has officially launched its HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan for 2026–2027, reaffirming its drive to work alongside the State AIDS Control Agency (NASACA) and international development partners to curb the virus across the state.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Lafia, Health Commissioner Dr. Gaza Gwamna—represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Alhassan—stressed that the strategic plan is a practical working document designed to close critical gaps in prevention, treatment, and patient care, rather than sit on office shelves. He noted that full implementation is essential if Nasarawa is to minimize the pandemic’s impact by 2030.

Executive Secretary of NASACA, Dr. Ruth Bello, alongside the Director-General of NACA, Dr. Temitope Ilori, highlighted the urgent need for unified action among civil society groups, religious leaders, and healthcare providers. Lead Consultant Professor Ishaku Bako added that while the plan provides an evidence-based framework, its ultimate success relies on steady funding, active community engagement, and transparent monitoring.
