NATE Calls for Technology-Driven Economic Growth in Nasarawa
Technology has been described as a necessity for economic diversification, industrial growth and sustainable development in any nation.
Speakers made the submission at an event of honour and dinner organised by the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, NATE, Nasarawa State Branch, held at the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute in Lafia.
The event, organised in partnership with technology institutions and organisations, was held to honour fellows, chairmen and other distinguished members of the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering.
In a remark, the National President of the association, Engineering Technologist Dominic Udoatan, commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his commitment to technological development and advancement in Nasarawa State.
Represented by the Association’s Vice President, North Central, Engineering Technologist Panskhak Dowton, the President assured the association’s readiness to partner with the State Government and relevant institutions to promote innovation, professional development, standards and practical technological solutions.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, Nasarawa State Branch, Engineering Technologist Abdulkareem Kasali, said the event was aimed at celebrating excellence, appreciating impactful service and building a stronger future for the association.
He appealed for support to provide office accommodation and mobility for the association to enable it to enhance its activities within and outside the state.
Speaking on the theme, “Technology: The Pathway for Economic Growth and its Sustainability in Nasarawa State,” Professor Samuel Alu of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, called for stronger collaboration between the government and relevant organisations to promote technology-driven economic growth.
He said such collaboration would help transform the state’s abundant resources into finished products, create employment opportunities and strengthen the state’s economy.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Rector of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, Associate Professor Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata; Dr. Musa Yahaya Maikafi of the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology; Executive Director of the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Dr. Daniel Ewuga Esele; and General Manager of the Nasarawa State Water Board, Dr. Abubakar Kana.
The dignitaries, among others, received awards of recognition for their contributions to technological development and professional advancement.
