Doma Imam Urges Muslims to Embrace Peace
The Chief Imam of Doma, Malam Yahaya Adam, has called on Muslims to emulate the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad as a way of promoting unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence in society.
Malam Yahaya Adam made the call during the closing ceremony of the annual Maulud procession held in Doma on Tuesday.
The 12th of Rabi’ul Awwal is observed by Muslims around the world to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad, who is regarded as a model of mercy, justice, unity and peaceful coexistence.
Addressing worshippers at the event, the Chief Imam emphasised the importance of love, forgiveness, honesty, tolerance and compassion, urging Muslims to make these virtues part of their daily lives.
He encouraged the faithful to show kindness to others, respect people of different faiths and contribute positively to the development of their communities.
Malam Yahaya Adam also urged Muslims to reject hatred, violence and other actions capable of threatening peaceful coexistence, stressing that Islamic teachings promote peace, justice and mutual respect.
In a similar message, the representative of the Islamic Movement under the leadership of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky in Doma, Malam Muhammad Dahir Usman, called on Muslims to avoid divisive tendencies.
He said greater unity within the Muslim community would contribute to addressing some of the challenges facing society.
The Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Jonathan Okuba Addra, also felicitated with Muslims on the occasion and urged youths to use the celebration as an opportunity for sober reflection and ensure that the event was conducted in accordance with Islamic teachings.
The Maulud procession, which began in the early hours of Tuesday, took worshippers through major streets in Doma as they offered religious praises in honour of Prophet Muhammad. The procession later culminated in a colourful parade at the Palace of the Andoma of Doma.
